No doubt this workflow will be useful to others who use Dashlane, but for the Gallery we strive to provide a few assurances which the current state of the Dashlane CLI makes it impossible to adhere to. If the situation changes, we can reconsider and I’ll gladly take another look. About this app arrowforward Tired of waiting for one-time password codes in your texts and email and copying and pasting them to sign in to a new account Dashlane Authenticator makes it easy. A better alternative would be for Dashlane to support the CLI officially, which at the moment they specifically do not do. At the moment that’s not possible because it does not pass the threshold for popularity. Several of the above could likely be mitigated if the tool shipped in Homebrew’s default tap. For a tool that interacts with sensitive user data, that matters. They mention it’s experimental, discard every responsibility, and kind of dump it on the community. Dashlane themselves don’t seem to take care of the CLI.It is Intel-only, so won’t work on Apple Silicon without forcing an installation of Rosetta. But more importantly, being unsigned removes security guarantees so it’s also a no-go. It is unsigned, meaning it won’t run on user’s machines without further modification, complicating even more the manual steps. But the biggest blockers are with the Dashlane CLI itself:. The manual step is going to be too complicated for many users, who won’t know the right thing to download or what means.Tangentially, note the script is non-working as it hardcodes your user directory. The automated step runs an external script from your repo, which while done outside the workflow is the sort of thing the point above aims to avoid. The required installation requires downloading an external binary, which is a no-go.The nature of the workflow makes it particularly sensitive, and there are a few problem flags: Your data won't sync between these accounts.Thank you, but due to external factors we (us and you) cannot control, this doesn’t look like it can go in the Gallery. If you're using different email addresses to log in on different devices, that means you're using different Dashlane accounts. Store an unlimited number of passwords and access them anywhere. It’s the app that makes the internet easier. It fills all your passwords, payments, and personal details wherever you need them, across the web, on any device. If you notice that data is missing from one of your Dashlane apps but not the others, make sure you're using the same email address to log in to Dashlane on all your devices. Dashlane is more than just a password manager. To sync your data on a new device, download any Dashlane apps you don't already have:īrowser extension | iOS or Safari app | Android app What to do when sync isn't working When you log in to any app: Changes made since the last time you logged in to Dashlane are available on the device you've just used to log in.When you make changes in one of our mobile apps: Your changes are available immediately in other places you use Dashlane. When you make changes to your data on the web app: We update your data on our servers every five minutes, and any changes you've made are available in other places you use Dashlane.More about security at Dashlane Syncing happens in these situations: The only way to see the data you store in Dashlane is to log in to your Dashlane account with your Master Password. That means no one can access your data, not even Dashlane employees. Important: Your data is always "encrypted" before it's stored on our servers. That way, all the devices where you use Dashlane have the same data. Any time you log in to another Dashlane app, you download the data from our servers to your device. When you add data to Dashlane-a login or a Secure Note, for example-the data is sent from your app to our servers. This process is called "syncing" your data. When you add a login or make other changes to your data in Dashlane on one device, you can access your data anywhere else you use Dashlane.
